Director of Sales

Maple Ridge Events, a leader in Nashville’s event & meeting industry is seeking a dynamic, experienced sales professional to fill their Director of Sales position. We want a leader looking to define and grow innovative sales department through tried and true systems, mentorship and outside business development. Ideal candidates will have a strong sales background, team-player mentality and be a natural working a room. Affinity for hot chicken and country music are a bonus.

Position Manager: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Position Purpose: Management of the overall operations of the Sales Department of Maple Ridge Events; directs all sales and top line revenue activity


  • Ability to conceptualize the company’s vision & mission, develop and implement the sales business plan
  • Establishes and maintains lines of communication throughout the Company

  • Supervises, motivates and directs the Sales Department
  • Trains and monitors performance of team members through annual performance reviews, ensures all company policies are followed, employees are properly trained, managed, supervised and evaluated
  • Evaluates staff performances for annual reviews accompanied by quarterly account reviews with Sales Managers
  • Oversees the accuracy of detailed proposals and contracts
  • Contributes to Company’s “tariff” and assists with maintaining required revisions to the document
  • Supervises costs and pricing quoted to customers
  • Conducts bi-weekly sales meetings and develops agendas for productive discussions
  • Implements marketing plan as developed by the Leadership Team, assists with Company marketing efforts through contributions to website, marketing/news briefs, special events and projects
  • Provides budgetary information and monitors Sales Department expenditures
  • Makes recommendations for the development and modification of standard operating procedures within the Sales Department and, when appropriate, Company standard operating procedures
  • Development of prospect list with team as well as managing systems to ensure ongoing contact with existing clients and development of new business.
  • Qualifies and assigns all leads excluding those secured by individual Sales Managers within their assigned markets
  • Ensures that all Sales Managers receive adequate number of leads appropriate to assigned markets and are given fair opportunity to achieve goals via lead assignment
  • Responsible for continual solicitation and research of new business
  • Establishes and maintains continuing high level personal and professional contacts with business and community groups and industry organizations for the purpose of marketing the services provided by the Company
  • Maintains full knowledge of current and changing information related to the Company and industry
  • Represents the company at tradeshows, conventions, citywide familiarization trips and Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation’s meetings and events in an effort to gain new business and partnerships.
  • Attends site visits as appropriate with Sales Managers to assist in securing business for the company
  • Determines departmental sales goals and objectives
  • Responsible for company goals, objectives, marketing and sales goals and customer satisfaction goals are met resulting in continued customer satisfaction and Company profitability
  • Develops and defines short and long-term goals for self and Sales Managers; including development of up-selling goals, professional and personal development, continued education through industry related journals, publications, meetings and memberships
  • Daily review of revenues, pace, and target periods, Sales Manager’s revenues and areas where assistance is required
  • Forecasts revenues on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis



  • Solid track record of successful sales abilities, experience at all levels of the sales process, ability to sell concepts and ideas to Leadership, employees and customers while driving profitability
  • Experience in forecasting, budgets, cost control, revenue management, marketing plans and sales strategies
  • Strong organizational skills and thrives in a multi-task environment
  • Outstanding communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Strong computer skills with hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience creating and delivering strong sales presentations
  • Outstanding customer service skills and employee relations abilities
  • Strong knowledge of industry and competitive set
  • Actively involved in industry organizations while professionally representing and promoting services to potential customers
